About Us

Johnny Johnson was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. By age 10 he started his first aquarium, which was a 10 gallon aquarium and he learned everything you could possibly learn about them. Things started to be different when Johnny discovered aquarium master, Taskasi Amano, and saw all of his aquascapes and planted aquariums. It brought the hobby to a whole new perspective and so he attempted his first aquascape in a 20gal tank, which is the tank that really jump started his YouTube channel that gained an audience. At the time, little to no planted tank content was available here in the United States. With his love for creating and design, combining that with aquariums, he quickly knew he was different and began creating aquariums that would soon be award winning and some of the top tanks in the world.

Prior to the start of JJ Aquariums, I was a carpenter, which came to really help that much more. The skills comes in handy with installation and making our installs that much more perfect. Today, I am married to my beautiful wife, Emma. She was my first girlfriend and now my last. Ironically, I met Emma in a fish store. As shy as I was, she definitely was the one to talk first and we ended up taking a photo together, and the rest is history. I proposed to Emma a year into our relationship in Springfield, MO on the James River. We had our wedding on Stockton Lake in Stockton, MO. In the same year we built a house in Raymore, MO and we love it. She has been the biggest supporter in trying to create my dream and doing what I love. If you are a client with us there is a good chance she will be assisting me when she is not healing and saving lives as a nurse. She loves talking, meeting all my clients, fish and animals just like the rest of us.
